How can you group or ungroup elements?

Discussion
A group is several elements in the proximity which are considered together, or are connected or associated in some way. To group is to gather, collect or put together elements in a group, or consider them as a group. To ungroup is to begin with a group and then consider the grouped elements separately, or disconnect or disassociate the grouped elements from each other.

Relate Other PPs
The ProxPatterns are an integrated group of related patterns for relating to situations. By the Limits of One, any single ProxPattern has limits. In your proximity or situation, how does this ProxPattern relate to others?

Complete
1. For your situation, in the proximity generally or more specifically in ProxSets,
2. Possibly in relationship with other PPs,
3. To help with the Core Idea,
4. How can you group or ungroup elements in order to improve them, work or play with them, change or understand them, or otherwise relate to them?

Tip
A ProxSet is a group of related elements. If you ungroup a ProxSet, you may wish to create other ProxSets from it, or simply consider or relate to the elements in it.

Questions

• How would grouping or ungrouping give you a different perspective or approach?
• How can you set up relationships among elements, so that they are easier to group or ungroup?
• What elements seem almost like one element, or are functioning almost like an element, which you might group together? Or ungroup?
• What elements or groups might you ungroup? After doing so, what other elements do you or can you discover? How might this help?
• How can an element be seen as a group in one proximity or ProxSet, and not a group in other proximities or ProxSets?

Examples

Cars and Driving
On a ungrouped level, think about all the different related elements involved in driving a car: you, other cars, people in your car, your car’s parts, the road, music on the radio, steering and controlling, in addition to possibly thinking about something completely different from driving. Yet on a grouped level, the list just mentioned is what we often think of simply as driving.

Writing
Words are groups of letters. Sentences are groups of words. Paragraphs are groups of sentences. Chapters are groups of paragraphs. Books are groups of chapters. To some extent, we ungroup books, chapter, paragraphs and sentences as we read.

Copy and Paste
When you do a copy and paste on your computer, you use the power of grouping. You copy a group of elements to paste somewhere else. If you only copy a word or a part of some larger group of elements, you ungroup first, then group as part of the copy and paste.
