Key Points

Quick
How can you deal with or respond to the limits of any one element to relate to others?

Discussion
It seems that almost without exception, there are limits to any one idea, group, system, process, person, culture, region, method, object, feeling, relationship or perspective and so on. It's not that limits are not tested and pushed, and sometimes reveal new opportunities or limits beyond what was thought possible. Rather, it's that usually limits do exist at some point for most elements, relationships, and proximities.

Relate Other PPs
The ProxPatterns are an integrated group of related patterns for relating to situations. By the Limits of One, any single ProxPattern has limits. In your proximity or situation, how does this ProxPattern relate to others?

Complete
1. For your situation, in the proximity generally or more specifically in ProxSets,
2. Possibly in relationship with other PPs,
3. To help with the Core Idea,
4. How can you deal with or respond to the limits of any one element to relate to others?

Tips
Rather than relating to all or everything, it is usually better to focus on relating to some. Also, remembering that Rank Depends, some people may think a limit has been reached while others do not.

Questions

• Which elements in the proximity or situation seem stretched too thin, strained, trying too hard, or pushed to their limits?
• Which element is dominating the proximity or situation? Is it relating well to other elements?
• Are there side effects or unintended consequences from trying to relate one element to many other elements?
• Regarding people, is one person, group, region, culture, feeling, perspective or relationship and so on, near the limit of its ability or capacity to relate to other elements?
• Regarding elements other than people, is one idea, group, system, process, method, object, or relationship and so on, near the limit of its ability or capacity to relate to other elements?

Examples

Language
We sometimes try to use language to relate to everything, but it has trouble with things like music, art, sports, dance, friendships, and love. A similar argument could be made for money not relating to some elements.

Data Backup
As many computer users know, one hard drive can’t be relied on for everything, forever. You need backups for when that drive (one element) suddenly stops relating to your information.

Politics
Even the most brilliant leaders can’t relate to everyone.
